Temple Main Activities and Services
Kshethropadeshaka Samithy
In order to look after the day to day running of the temple efficiently and effectively, a Kshethropadeshaka Samithy is constituted. Some of the main developments done by the Samithi are the Sopanam covering with brass, laid Pradakshinavazhi around the temple using Krishna shila, fixed Chuttuvilakku outside Nalambalam, Constructed Permanent Aanappandals and Alankara- gopurams on east and west sides.
Gowri Sankaranarayana Samithy
Gowri Sankaranarayana Samithy is the women’s wing of Devotees and they are very active in successfully conducting Pongala Festival, Sivapurana Sameeksha, Navarathri celebrations etc every year. They work under the directions of Kshetropadesaka Samithy. They conduct Sampooma Narayaneeya Parayanam on Thiruvathira day every month.
Pongala Festival and Pavakkulathamma Sevamrutham Scheme
In connection with Pongala Festival, scholarship is disbursed under a scheme called Pavakkulathamma Sevamrutham Scheme to deserving students who are financially backward but are meritorious in their studies and are in the Plus One, Plus Two and Degree level,. Donations for this purpose are accepted from devotees of Pavakkulathamma.
Bhagavatham, Narayaneeyam and Upanishad
Bhagavatham, Narayaneeyam and Upanishad classes are conducted in the temple on a regular basis. Those who wish to attend these classes can avail this facility.
Prasadamoottu(Annadanam)
Prasadamoottu(Annadanam) is offered daily to devotees who visit the temple. Devotees can donate for Prasadamoottu as a vazhipad and get blessed.
Naranga Vilakku Pooja (Rahudosha Nivarana Pooja)
Naranga Vilakku Pooja (Rahudosha Nivarana Pooja) is conducted to please Durga Devi who is assumed to be controlling Rahu, one among the Navagrahas. Rahu is said to be the son of Vethala the vehicle of Durga Devi. The aim of this pooja is to overcome the astrologically bad times mainly during Rahur dasha.This pooja is conducted on all Fridays from 10.30 am to 12 noon. Hundreds of devotees lake part in this pooja.
Other popular poojas and vazhipads done here are Ganapathy Homam, Maha Ganapathy Homam, Mrithyunjaya Homam, Maha Mrithyunjaya Homam, Pradosha Pooja, Ezhuthiniruthu (Vidyarambham), Chuttuvilakku etc.
Homams
Facilities are available for those who want special homams and poojas such as Ganapathy homam, Bhagavathy Seva etc, to be done in their homes, shops , establishments etc. Poojaris and necessry readymade homakundam, utensils, other equipments for conducting pooja etc., will be arranged by the temple. Those who desire to avail this facility can contact the vazhipad counter.
